Crown Delivery in Brantford

Everything you need to know about your crown delivery at Arora Dental

What to expect at your crown delivery

  • Crown delivery is the process of placing a permanent custom-made crown over a prepared tooth. This is the final step in restoring the tooth's structure, function, and appearance after it has been weakened by damage, decay, or a root canal.

  • Crown delivery is indicated when a temporary crown has been protecting the tooth and the permanent crown is ready for placement. It is also necessary for teeth that have undergone significant restoration, such as a root canal or core buildup, and require additional support.

Pre-operative instructions

There is typically no special preparation required for crown delivery. You should maintain your regular oral hygiene routine and inform the dentist of any issues, such as discomfort or sensitivity, around the temporary crown or treated tooth.

During the appointment

If not root canal treated, local anesthetic is applied. The temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is placed, checked for fit and alignment, then bonded securely to the tooth.

Post-operative instructions

After crown placement, wait 30 mins before eating or drinking. Avoid hard or sticky foods for 24 hours. Brush and floss as usual, paying extra attention around the crown to maintain gum health.

After your visit

The treated tooth will regain full function and appearance immediately. Mild sensitivity may occur for a few days. If discomfort persists or alignment feels off, contact the office for an adjustment.

After your crown delivery, wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking to allow the cement to fully set. Avoid hard or sticky foods for the first 24 hours. Continue your regular oral hygiene routine, brushing and flossing as usual, but pay extra attention around the crown to maintain gum health. If you experience any discomfort or the crown feels off, contact us for an adjustment.
